Part F — Record, registers, files and retention
Rule 56. Statutes or citations for reference
Chapter VI · Record of Proceedings
56.1 The rule
The parties or authorised representative or legal practitioners shall, before the commencement of the proceedings for the day, furnish to the Court officer a list of law journals, reports, statutes and other citations, which may be needed for reference or photocopy of full text thereof.
56.2 What it does
Rule 56 puts the burden of making authority available where it belongs — on the side that intends to rely on it — and fixes the moment by which it must be done: before the Bench assembles, not when the matter is called.
